Radio Is Changing My Life
For years now people have been telling me that I should be on the radio, not just friends and family but total strangers I’d meet during the course of my work day. So about a year ago I started searching for radio schools on the Internet and I found the Montreal Radio & Television School site. I was immediately impressed with the description of the school. It’s location, right in the heart of Montreal, the intimate size of the classes, the school founder Robert Vairo. I can remember seeing Robert on TV and hearing him on the radio so I knew that this was a man with a lot of broadcast experience. So I saved the site to my favorites.
Fast forward to the summer of 2008. I had just been through a difficult year on the job. It was time for a change.
“Why not radio?”. So in October I made the call, not an easy thing for me after more than 20 years in my current occupation, and left a message. Later that same day my phone rang, it was Robert Vairo. We talked for about 10 minutes and arranged a meeting at the school the next day. When I got there Robert was just finishing up with a class so I got to hear a little bit about what goes on there. He explained to me that radio is not for everybody and that he meets with potential students to get a sense of them. I was doing the same thing with him, and the sense I got is “Here is a man with a great passion for broadcasting and desire to pass it along to others and assure the future of radio & TV.”
My mind was made up. And my life has not been the same since.
I can once again feel the promise of a new day and the hope of a bright future, in RADIO!
