BLOG (Melca Castle is a radio student)
Once you go Radio, you can never go back…
So we’re into our fourth month at the Montreal Radio TV School and I feel like we’ve come a long way- I know I definitely have anyway. It seems like everywhere I go, radio follows me.
I was in the grocery store yesterday and I noticed a deal on some taco shells so I mentioned how great of a deal it was. “What a great deal on Taco shells! Only 1.99 for a pack of 12! Sale ends Tuesday!” Apparently, I speak in radio advertisements now because when I mentioned this deal, immediately my best friend who was with me seemed very amused. She told me I sounded like a commercial and I told her I couldn’t help it now. I guess Mr. V (radio instructor) is just too good of a teacher. I seem to be always practicing my radio skills even when I’m not at my laptop or behind a mic. When I’m out at the bar like I was this week-end in Toronto, I can’t help but speak to new people I meet like I’m doing my monologue for class or read signs along Queen St. as if I’m a recorded voice you hear on telephone messages. What I’m really trying to say is my life has turned into one big radio show 24/7, all day, every day and I think my class mates would agree with me on this one.
Thanks Mr. V.
