RADIO & TV WEATHER REPORTING
Television & Radio weather forecasts offer the ideal opportunity for meteorologists to provide the information most important to Canadians - the weather. It’s information that directly affects our daily routine, our livelihood and our personal lives.
EXTREME WEATHER
The depletion of the ozone layer, global warming, destructive hurricanes and tornadoes. Extreme conditions have created the urgency for more than just a “weather specialist.” Extreme weather demands educated and informed reporting. Radio and TV stations require someone equipped to report and interpret weather systems. That’s your role as the broadcast meteorologist.
METEOROLOGISTS ON THE AIR
Market research in major television viewing areas reveals that nearly 80% of viewers list the weather report as the primary reason they watch the local news. The majority of Canadians over the age of 12 refer to TV or Radio at least once a day for weather information. And most often, local Radio or TV news is the only place people get any environmental information at all. Weather is everyday life. And the weather report is the ideal place to convey that important information. To Canadians, the broadcast meteorologist has become one of the most relied upon TV or Radio personalities.
